Peter Burton was an English actor who was best known for his roles in the films The Great Escape (1963) and The Longest Day (1962). He was born on April 4, 1921 in Bromley, Kent, England. He began his career in the theatre, appearing in a number of plays in the West End. He made his film debut in the British comedy The Lavender Hill Mob (1951). He went on to appear in a number of films, including The Longest Day (1962), The Great Escape (1963), The Battle of Britain (1969), and The Eagle Has Landed (1976). He also appeared in a number of television series, including The Avengers (1961-1969), The Saint (1962-1969), and The Persuaders! (1971-1972). Burton died on October 28, 2003 in London, England at the age of 82. His net worth at the time of his death was estimated to be around $2 million.
