Marc-Olivier Strauss-Kahn is a French economist and politician who served as the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund from 2007 to 2011. He was born on 10 March 1954 in Agadir, Morocco, to a Jewish family. He is the son of lawyer Gilbert Strauss-Kahn and his wife, Anne Sinclair, a journalist. He studied at the Lycée Pasteur in Neuilly-sur-Seine, and then at the École nationale d'administration (ENA) in Paris. He graduated from the ENA in 1978 and then worked as an inspector of finances in the French Ministry of Finance. In 1991, he was appointed as the Minister of Economy and Finance in the government of Pierre Bérégovoy. He was also the Chairman of the French National Assembly's Finance Committee from 1997 to 1999. In 2007, he was appointed as the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, a position he held until 2011. He was also a member of the French Socialist Party from 1988 to 2011.
